SMS marketing ROI calculator.
Model the return on an SMS campaign before you send it. Enter your audience, how often you send, the conversion rate you expect, your average order value and your cost per SMS — and see projected revenue, cost, net profit, ROI and ROAS update live. Every figure is derived from your own assumptions and nothing leaves your device.
Projections based on YOUR assumptions — not a guarantee or an industry benchmark.
This tool does no more than arithmetic on the numbers you type. The defaults are illustrative placeholders for you to replace, not claims about typical performance. BroadNet does not assert an average conversion rate, open rate or ROI here — real results depend on your list quality, offer, timing, market and compliance. Use your own historical data wherever you can.
Your assumptions
How many people each campaign reaches.
How many campaigns you send in a month.
The share of recipients who convert — set this from your own data. The default is only a placeholder, not a benchmark.
Average order value or revenue you earn from one conversion.
Billable parts per message (1 for a short GSM-7 text).

The short answer
How do you calculate SMS marketing ROI?
SMS marketing ROI is the net return you earn for every unit of cost. Multiply the recipients per campaign by the number of campaigns and by your conversion rate to get monthly conversions, then multiply by revenue per conversion to get revenue. Your SMS cost is the number of billable messages multiplied by your cost per SMS. ROI is (revenue − cost) ÷ cost, expressed as a percentage; ROAS is simply revenue ÷ cost. This calculator runs those formulas on the numbers you enter — it does not assume any benchmark performance.
What each output means
Revenue is the gross value of the conversions your campaign drives. SMS cost is what you pay to send the messages. Net profit is revenue minus that cost. ROI expresses net profit as a percentage of spend, so 300% means you earned three times your cost back on top of it. ROAS is the raw multiple of revenue to spend, so 4× means four units of revenue for every one spent. Revenue per message and cost per conversion help you sanity-check whether the projection is realistic for your list and offer.
The formulas
| Messages / month | recipients × campaigns × segments |
|---|---|
| Conversions / month | recipients × campaigns × (conversion rate ÷ 100) |
| Revenue | conversions × revenue per conversion |
| SMS cost | messages × cost per SMS |
| Net profit | revenue − SMS cost |
| ROI % | (revenue − cost) ÷ cost × 100 |
| ROAS | revenue ÷ cost |
| Revenue per message | revenue ÷ messages |
| Cost per conversion | SMS cost ÷ conversions |
Frequently asked questions
Are the default numbers a benchmark for SMS performance?
No. The pre-filled values are illustrative placeholders so the calculator has something to show on first load. They are not an industry average or a claim about typical results. Replace every field with your own figures — ideally from your past campaigns — before trusting the output.
What conversion rate should I use?
Use your own. The most reliable source is your historical campaign data: conversions divided by messages delivered. If you have no history, run a small test send and measure it rather than borrowing a number from an article. This tool deliberately does not suggest a 'typical' rate, because it varies enormously by list quality, offer, market and timing.
What is the difference between ROI and ROAS?
ROAS (return on ad spend) is revenue divided by cost — a raw multiple, so 5× means five units of revenue per unit spent. ROI (return on investment) is net profit divided by cost, expressed as a percentage — so the same campaign is 400% ROI, because it returned four times its cost on top of recovering the cost itself. ROAS of N× always equals ROI of (N − 1) × 100%.
How do I find my cost per SMS?
Cost per SMS depends on the destination country, message encoding and volume. Enter a rate you have been quoted, or use the SMS cost estimator to get an indicative per-country reference rate, then paste it back here. Remember that long or Unicode messages split into multiple billable segments — set 'segments per message' accordingly.
Does the calculator account for multi-part messages?
Yes, through the 'segments per message' field. A short GSM-7 text is one segment; a longer message or one containing emoji or Arabic can be two or more. Billable SMS cost is multiplied by the number of segments. Use the SMS segment calculator to find the exact segment count for a specific message.
Is projected ROI a guarantee?
No. The output is arithmetic on your assumptions, not a forecast of real-world results. Actual revenue depends on deliverability, opt-in quality, offer strength, seasonality and how well the campaign is executed. Treat the number as a planning estimate to pressure-test your assumptions, not a promise.
