Decision guides · by buyer situation

Three buying situations, with every alternative at its best.

Buyers rarely choose between BroadNet and a weak alternative. They choose between good options that fit different situations. Each guide lists the types of provider a buyer in that situation actually shortlists, what each does best, and what to check before signing, including for us. No provider is named.

A GCC bank moving its OTP traffic

Millions of one-time passwords a month to customers in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf, under banking and data-protection rules, where a code that arrives late means a failed login and a call to the contact centre.

OptionAt its bestCheck before you sign
Global developer-first CPaaSExcellent APIs and SDKs, a ready-made verification product, self-serve onboarding and broad global reach. Often the fastest way to a working integration.Which Gulf operators it reaches directly and which through partners; how sender IDs are registered in each market; where OTP data is processed and stored; whether it invoices in AED or SAR.
In-country aggregatorClose operator and regulator relationships in its home market, local sender-ID registration and local-currency invoicing.Coverage and failover outside its home market; whether WhatsApp or voice fallback exists when SMS is slow; whether delivery is reported per operator.
BroadNetDirect operator routes in 86 countries, including the Gulf; OTP failover across SMS, WhatsApp and voice, billed once per successful verification; sender-ID registration handled per market; AED and SAR invoicing; on-premise and private-cloud options. There is no self-serve sandbox: test access is on request, with a reply within one business day, and production onboarding involves compliance work with our team.

Choose a global CPaaS for the fastest start, an in-country aggregator for a single market, and BroadNet when multi-market Gulf delivery, channel failover and local billing matter most.

A mobile operator choosing an SMS firewall

Grey-route A2P, SIM boxes and smishing are costing revenue and subscriber trust. The firewall has to sit inline in front of the SMSC without breaking person-to-person or roaming traffic.

Specialist signalling-security vendorDeep SS7, Diameter and SMS firewall expertise, broad threat intelligence and, often, GSMA security accreditations. Usually commercially neutral, because it sells no A2P traffic. How A2P monetisation (turning blocked grey traffic into billed traffic) is handled: by the vendor, by your own team, or by a separate partner.
Your core-network or SMSC vendor's firewall moduleFits the core you already run, one support contract, and integration risk the vendor already owns. How quickly the rules change when fraud patterns shift, and how much SMS-specific filtering is included rather than licensed separately.
In-house rules on the SMSCFull control and no new vendor. Good enough for simple volume or sender-based blocking.Who maintains the rules as fraud adapts, and whether you have the data to detect SIM boxes and grey routes rather than only block them.
BroadNetSMS and SS7 firewalls deployed in 60+ operator networks, with A2P monetisation and the enterprise traffic side in the same team.We also sell A2P messaging to enterprises. Read how we separate those roles in the neutrality and governance section before you decide.

Choose a specialist when neutrality and signalling depth come first, your core vendor when one contract matters most, and BroadNet when you want protection and A2P monetisation from one team.

A platform sending A2P messages worldwide

A software platform or marketplace sending notifications and OTPs to users in more than 100 countries, where cost per message, uptime and a single integration matter more than any one market.

Global developer-first CPaaSMature APIs, many channels in one account, global scale and extensive documentation. A strong fit when engineering time is the scarcest resource.Route quality and price in the markets where most of your traffic goes, country by country.
Multi-provider routingTwo or more providers behind your own router: resilience against any single provider's outage, and price competition per destination. The engineering cost of running the router, reconciling delivery receipts across providers and keeping sender IDs registered with each one.
Direct operator agreementsThe lowest unit cost at very high volume in a few markets.Interconnect, compliance and billing work for every market. Only worth it where volume is concentrated.
BroadNetREST API and SMPP 3.4 / 5.0, 30,000 SMS per second per node, direct routes in 86 countries and published per-country SMS list rates. Also works well as one provider in a multi-provider set-up.Our depth is in MENA, Africa and Asia. Compare route quality market by market elsewhere, and expect a scoped onboarding rather than instant self-serve.

Choose a global CPaaS for breadth with the least engineering, multi-provider routing for resilience, direct agreements where volume is concentrated, and BroadNet for operator-direct depth where we are strong.

Honest scoping

When not to choose us.

A vendor that claims to fit everyone fits no one. Three cases where we will tell you, on the first call, to buy something else.

Hobby and pure self-serve projects

If you are sending low-stakes notifications from a side project, a self-serve aggregator account will do the job for a few dollars a month. We do not chase that traffic, and you would be paying for depth you do not need.

Single-market, price-only marketing blasts

When per-message price is the only criterion and an undelivered message costs you nothing, the cheapest route of the day is often good enough. Operator-direct routing earns its keep on traffic that has to arrive.

A no-contact, card-swipe experience

Enterprise onboarding involves real compliance work — sender-ID registration, KYC, route scoping. If you never want a human in the loop, our model will feel heavy. Test access comes on request, and production at scale is scoped with you.

the buying decision.

MENA coverage

Direct binds across MENA tier-1 operators and NTRA-licensed Egypt routes.

SMS firewall

Same vendor that sells your inbound A2P platform also operates 60+ operator firewalls.

Delivery receipts

Every send timestamped with its delivery receipt — audit-ready for the regulator, not the marketing deck.

SMPP 3.4 / 5.0

Direct SMPP bind with TLS, transceiver mode, no fixed per-account limit — throughput sized to your traffic.

Buyer questions

How to read this comparison center.

Why don't these comparisons name specific vendors?

+

By deliberate policy. We compare against types of provider — a global developer-first CPaaS, an in-country aggregator, a specialist firewall vendor, an in-house build — rather than named competitors. It keeps the comparison honest and durable: a named-vendor page goes stale the moment the other side ships a feature, and it invites a legal argument instead of a technical one. A named head-to-head against a specific provider you are evaluating is possible, but requires sign-off from our side first.

Which alternatives do you compare?

+

The ones a buyer in each situation actually shortlists. For a GCC bank's OTP: a global developer-first CPaaS and an in-country aggregator. For an operator's SMS firewall: a specialist signalling-security vendor, the core-network vendor's firewall module and in-house rules. For a platform's global A2P: a global CPaaS, multi-provider routing and direct operator agreements. Each is described at its best, with what to check before signing — including for BroadNet.

How current is this comparison?

+

The decision guides are dated — last reviewed 29 September 2026. Every BroadNet row restates a fact published elsewhere on this site rather than a number invented for the page, and we welcome corrections at press@broadnet.me.

Can I get a comparison against the specific provider I'm evaluating?

+

Send us your last 30 days of invoices and we will come back with a like-for-like re-quote on operator-direct routes, usually within two business days — that tells you far more than a marketing table. A formal named head-to-head document is available on request, subject to internal sign-off.

Is BroadNet ever the wrong choice?

+

Yes, and we say so on this page. For a hobby project or a single-market, price-only marketing blast where an undelivered message costs nothing, a self-serve aggregator is the right tool and you would be paying us for depth you do not need. We chase the traffic that has to arrive.

How do you back the claims in the guides?

+

Each BroadNet row maps to something published on the site — coverage, certifications, the operator firewall footprint, the SMPP throughput, the billing currencies. Ask sales for the evidence behind any specific cell and we will show you the source.

Send us last month's invoice.

Whichever category of provider you're on today, we'll come back with a like-for-like quote on operator-direct routes — usually within two business days. AED / SAR billing available.
