WhatsApp template validator.

Compose a WhatsApp Business message template — category, header, body, footer and buttons — and check it against the public WhatsApp/Meta structure rules before you submit. See a live preview of the message bubble and a plain-English checklist of what to fix. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.

This validates against the public WhatsApp/Meta template structure rules — final approval is Meta's, and category and content-policy review may still apply. It does not guarantee approval.

Structure looks ready to submit

No structural problems found against the public guidelines. Meta still runs category and content-policy review, so approval is not guaranteed.

The short answer

What makes a WhatsApp template pass structure review?

A WhatsApp Business message template is built from a category, an optional header, a required body, an optional footer, and optional buttons. Before Meta reviews the wording and category, the template has to be structurally valid: the body must be 1,024 characters or fewer, variables must be numbered sequentially from {{1}} and wrapped in real text, header text is capped at 60 characters, the footer at 60, and buttons are limited in count and label length. Many rejections are structural — a variable at the very start of the body, two variables touching, or a marketing button on an Authentication template. This tool checks those structural rules so you can fix them before submission.

How WhatsApp template validation works

When you submit a template through a WhatsApp Business Solution Provider, Meta checks two things: structure and policy. Structure covers the mechanical rules — lengths, variable numbering and placement, button counts and category constraints — and is deterministic, so you can check it up front. Policy and category review is Meta's judgement call: is the content promotional, does it match the chosen category, is the sample data realistic. This validator only checks the structural rules, which are published in the WhatsApp Business Platform documentation. It cannot and does not predict the policy decision, so a clean checklist here means your template is well-formed, not that it is guaranteed to be approved.

Frequently asked questions

Does this guarantee my template will be approved?

No. It checks your template against the public WhatsApp/Meta structure rules — lengths, variable numbering and placement, button limits and category constraints. Final approval is Meta's, and category and content-policy review still apply. A clean checklist means the template is well-formed, not that it will pass policy review.

Why do WhatsApp templates get rejected so often?

The most common reasons are a category mismatch (promotional wording submitted as Utility or Authentication) and variable problems — non-sequential numbering, a variable at the very start or end of the body, or two variables with no text between them. Length and button-limit violations and missing sample values also cause rejections. This tool flags the structural ones before you submit.

How many variables can a WhatsApp template have?

There isn't a single fixed cap for the body, but variables must be numbered sequentially from {{1}} with no gaps, must be wrapped in real text, and cannot sit at the very start or end of the body or directly next to each other. A text header may contain at most one variable, and footers cannot contain variables at all.

What are the length limits for a WhatsApp template?

Based on public guidelines: the body is up to 1,024 characters, a text header up to 60 characters, and the footer up to 60 characters. Button labels are typically kept to around 25 characters. These are structural limits; exceeding them is a mechanical rejection you can catch before submitting.

What's different about Authentication templates?

Authentication templates are for one-time passcodes only. They cannot use a media header, cannot include URLs or promotional quick-reply buttons, and typically use a copy-code button so the recipient can paste the code. Putting marketing content or a Visit-URL button on an Authentication template is a common rejection.
