CS adoption is growing fast — especially since iOS 18 added support in 2024. WhatsApp dominates MENA — Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt are all WhatsApp-first markets. So which channel matters for your business?

Reach

WhatsApp wins in MENA on raw daily-active users: ~85% of UAE and Saudi smartphone owners use WhatsApp daily. RCS reach is growing but mediated by carrier deployment status — du and Etisalat have rolled out RCS Business Messaging; STC and Mobily are in progressive rollout.

Cost

Roughly comparable. WhatsApp is billed per delivered template message by category. RCS is per session. Pricing varies by country; for UAE, both fall in the AED 0.05–0.15 range per session.

Trust signals

Both support verified branded sender (Green Tick for WhatsApp; Verified Sender for RCS). RCS shows the brand directly in the system Messages app with no app install required. WhatsApp requires the app but reaches users where they already are.

Recommendation

For MENA businesses in 2026: WhatsApp as primary, RCS as fallback for handsets without WhatsApp installed, SMS as ultimate fallback. BroadNet's omnichannel API handles this orchestration in one call.
