Everything worth knowing, nothing that isn't.
Re-register sender IDs early
Sender-ID registration has lead times in many markets, so start it before cutover to avoid a gap where messages are dropped. See /answers/how-to-register-sender-id.
Run in parallel and compare
Send a slice of real traffic through the new provider alongside the incumbent and compare delivery rate and operator error codes per country — this is how you verify route quality rather than trusting a coverage map. See /answers/how-to-choose-sms-provider and /answers/sms-deliverability-economics-2026.
Update integrations
Swap API keys or SMPP binds, repoint delivery-receipt and inbound webhooks, and re-test encoding and segmentation before shifting volume. See /answers/what-is-a-messaging-webhook and /answers/how-to-test-sms-integration.
Cut over gradually
Ramp traffic to the new provider in stages while monitoring DLRs, keeping the ability to roll back. A gradual migration turns a risky switch into a measured, reversible move. See /answers/what-is-dlr.
