# What is RCS?

> RCS (Rich Communication Services) is the modern replacement for SMS — a protocol that supports verified branded senders, rich cards, suggested replies, read receipts, and group messaging. RCS Business Messaging (RBM) is the enterprise variant. Native in Android Messages since 2019; supported on iPhone since iOS 18 (2024).
