# What is NRTRDE (Near Real Time Roaming Data Exchange)?

> NRTRDE (Near Real Time Roaming Data Exchange), defined in GSMA TD.35, requires a visited operator to send roaming usage records to the home operator within four hours of the event — far faster than the daily TAP file. Its purpose is fraud control: high-value roaming fraud such as SIM-box or premium-rate abuse can run up huge losses before a daily TAP cycle would surface it, so NRTRDE shortens the detection window.
