# What is a DNC (Do Not Call) list?

> A DNC (Do Not Call) list — also called Do Not Disturb (DND) in some markets — is a register of phone numbers whose owners have opted out of marketing calls or messages. Many regulators run national DNC/DND registries, and scrubbing your list against them before a campaign is a legal requirement in most markets. Honouring STOP/opt-out keywords is the SMS equivalent.
